Known as Victoria’s fastest growing regional city, Wodonga is one of a pair of cities on the Murray River. Its larger “twin” city of Albury is situated on the opposite side of the river in New South Wales. Here’s how you can spend 48 hours in Wodonga.

Day 1

7AM: Start your day at the Huon Hill Parklands

Huon Hill is the ideal destination for the perfect picnic. Visitors to Wodonga like to spend a few hours here for the spectacular views of the bordering cities of Albury and Wodonga. At 263 meters, this is a great spot for a barbecue with an amazing view.

9AM: Get your hands on fresh local produce at Arnold’s Fruit Market

Arnold’s Fruit Market is ranked among the top things to do in Wodonga. The market has been delivering wholesale fresh fruit and vegetables to local businesses for over a century. In fact, in 2017, the Arnold’s Fruit Market celebrated 125 years of business in Albury Wodonga.

12PM: Head to the High Country Rail Trail

Gear up with your hiking shoes and get set for an adventure on the High Country Rail Trail. A treat for all ages, this trail has several national and state parks that offer magnificent views from lookouts – including the Main Range of the Kosciuszko National Park. The High Country Rail Trail starts at Wodonga and ends at Shelley with a total length of 80km.

6PM: Dinner at Miss Amelie

After a long day, make a pit stop at one of the best restaurants in the city, Miss Amelie. Known for its local cuisine, vegan options and quiet ambience, Miss Amelie also features outdoor seating and private dining.

Day 2

10AM: Revisit history at The Army Museum Bandiana

Visit the largest military museum in Australia, The Army Museum Bandiana. This local attraction is open to people of all ages and has a reputation as a fun interactive museum with interesting historic facts. Visitors could spend better part of a day learning about the informative history of the region. The museum has a collection of army vehicles, artillery, and more. Please check their website for opening hours as they were closed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

11AM: Time for some fun at the Wodonga Ice Skating Rink

The Wodonga Ice Skating Rink is a fun place where a standard 2-hour session will give you plenty of time to skate. A fabulous place for kids, the staff is super friendly and ready to help. 

1PM: GIGS Gateway Island Gallery & Studios

An arts precinct situated on the banks of the Murray River, Gateway Island Gallery & Studios features high quality contemporary works of over 50 regional artists. What’s more? This studio welcomes the public to watch artists at work.

3PM: Pop a visit to Cheeky Peak Brewery

Sample some of the finest craft beers in the region at Cheeky Peak Brewery. The home brew shop claims to carry Australia’s largest range of recipe packs and the freshest ingredients at competitive prices. Definitely worth a visit when you’re in Wodonga!
