There’s been a lot of discussion surrounding millennials, smashed avocado and savings (or lack there of) lately and, frankly…. it’s totally warranted! Smashed avocado is damn expensive. LIFE is damn expensive. Both are hard to say no to, right? We hear you. If you want to get the most out of Brisbane without wounding your hip pocket then here’s 5 things to do in Brisbane on a Budget.
1. Hang out at Streets Beach
You know that saying “the best things in life are free”? Well take this as exhibit A. This is the cities only man-made beach and an epic spot to observe the spectacular city skyline at zero cost. The swimming lagoon is fit with shallow swim spots and lifeguards for extra safety 😉
2. Get your art on at the Queensland Museum
Culture vultures: now is your time! The Queensland museum has been collating its contents since 1862 so it’s a guarantee there’s something in there for everyone. The museum is jam packed with many artistic and cultural feats from indigenous legends to dinosaurs and everything in between. The best part? General admin is free!
3. Hop on the CityHopper
Discover Brisbane FOR FREE on this ferry service that runs every 30 minutes between 6am and midnight seven days a week. You can jump on and off at whatever stop you like and observe the whole of Brisbane from the water.
4. Venture through Queens St Mall
Right in the heart of Brisbane’s city centre you’ll find Queen Street Mall. It’s the perfect place to soak up Brisbane’s street vibe and browse its shops. Often you’ll find live entertainment during lunch times and over the weekends!
5. Stroll along the riverbanks on the Brisbane Riverwalk
This is a shared space for both cyclists and pedestrians! You can meander between the city and New Farm which is an inner city suburb with amazing cafes and a large public park. It’s a great way to get in your daily steps and to see Brisbane from the riverside!
