Bayswater, also known as the “Garden City”, is located 6km northeast of Perth’s CBD. The inner-city suburb is home to the Bayswater Riverside Gardens, positioned on the doorstep of the Swan River. Featuring both parklands and pathways that line the river, the gardens are the heart of the community and a popular spot for walkers, picnickers and cyclists.

The gardens are also the finishing point for one of the state’s most iconic events, the annual Avon Descent – a two-day, 124km adventure race that runs from Northam to Bayswater. Nestled adjacent to the gardens is the Eric Singleton Bird Sanctuary, an urban wetland that attracts more than 100 species of birds.
Other spots on the local map include Ellis House, a historical community arts centre that showcases the work of local artists and Halliday House, a heritage centre and museum that commemorates Bayswater’s history.
