Melbourne Fashion Week is one of the city’s biggest annual events.

Launching the Spring/Summer collection, a multitude of local and international brands will be showcasing their latest and greatest from September 1-8. If you’re heading down for a weekend getaway, check out what’s going down during the week and find out where you can find the hottest looks right after they appear on the runway.

The Biggest Night in Melbourne Fashion World

The biggest night in the fashion world (no, we’re not talking about Myer’s Super Saturday) is no doubt the Vogue American Express Fashion’s Night Out (VAEFNO). Kicking off on the opening night at Emporium, this is your chance to grab the latest designs with the best exclusive sales and offers of the season. While in Melbourne, there are some premium places to head if you’re looking to purchase some designer clothes.

After haute couture?

Your best bet is to pop down to the Paris End of Collins Street. High end global labels such as Gucci, Prada and Hermes await you, with many saying this strip reminds them of luxury shopping in France.

A traditional mall type experience

There’s only one place to head, and that’s Chadstone Shopping Centre. Having recently undergone a $660 million makeover, this place is now one of the biggest shopping plazas in the southern hemisphere. From H&M and Zara, to Balenciaga and Chanel, Chadstone has every store imaginable. The best part? If you’re staying in the Melbourne CBD , there are shuttle busses departing from Federation Square to Chadstone every hour of every day.

Looking for a place to eat after all that shopping?

Some of Australia’s top fashion influencers have some recommendations on where you can head if you need a bite to eat.

A favourite dining spot of Megan Gale’s is Mr. Miyagi, a Japanese fusion restaurant that puts an oriental spin on some classic dishes such as fried chicken and prawn and ginger dumplings.

Australian model Steph-Claire Smith recommends heading to Miss Frank Café for some of the best coffee in the country, or some freshly baked goods. Absolutely need mouth-watering chocolate chip pancakes? Top model Sarah Czarnuch praises The Alley on St Kilda Road.
