Things to do in Albany

For the history buffs, the National ANZAC Centre is an eye opening experience. Follow the journey of a fallen soldier and his services in war with the aid of recovered footage; capturing the true selflessness of our soldiers. Keep an eye out for the expertly restored military buildings and equipment, and the thrilling stories about the women’s army based at the fortress.

If you are interested in delving deeper into the history of the area, head down to Albany Heritage Park. Located on the peaks of Mount Adelaide and Mount Clarence, this gorgeous parkland highlights the involvement of Albany in the two World Wars, with memorials, barracks and forts dating back to WW1.

Albany’s Historic Whaling Station was the last operating whaling station in Australia, which has now turned into an educational experience for its many visitors. Get ready to see some long-forgotten insights into the entire whaling process, from start to finish!

TIP: Be sure to check out the main attraction; a monstrous skeleton of a giant blue whale!

Feeling hungry? The Gourmandise & Co is calling your name! A quaint little café that specialises in traditional French cuisine; we can highly recommend their pastries and baguettes!

TRY: The pumpkin, walnut and feta quiche!

After something more ‘paddock to plate’? The Albany Farmer’s Market is held every Saturday morning from 4am with seasonal produce around every corner, you can’t any fresher than that!
