Only 30-minutes’ drive from the heart of Perth, the Perth Hills wine region has been home to innovative winemakers since the 1880s. Sample the passion at Ugly Duckling’s rustic cottage, an idyllic spot for a premium shiraz overlooking the vineyard. Plume Estate Vineyard is celebrated for its boutique sparkling, and Lancaster Wines’ tasting shed serves popular grazing plates and shiraz from the Swan Valley’s oldest vines.

Fancy something with a little kick? Start in town with an authentic craft whiskey inspired by a WW2 recipe at Whipper Snapper Distillery (they also do great ‘Journey Tours’). The historic Perth distillery tradition also sets its vodka amongst the world’s best. Taste an award-winning label at Old Youngs, where the rustic-styled kitchen serves seasonal dishes to match. For cool ambience and tastings Sin Gin Distillery is a gin-lover’s hit.

Tap into the heart of Perth’s brewing heritage at some of the best breweries in WA. Situated near the Swan River, Blasta Brewery’s beer hall is a community hot spot for globally-inspired beers and food. The Northbridge Brewing Company pub is a great place to relax with a popular Beerland brew. Ready for a raspberry pale or pastry sour? Step inside the colourful Bright Tank Brewing
